PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Registration is now open for the 2012 Basic Economic Development Course. The course will be held in downtown Denver the week of June 11-15.
The Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) provides a substantial introduction to the theory and fundamentals of comprehensive economic development. The formal instruction emphasizes beneficial development which can result from the constructive actions of local leaders, and revolves around five major themes: innovative community development concepts; regional economics; basic factors in development; techniques of economic development and trends in economic development.

This course is best designed for economic development practitioners; community volunteers; municipal, town and county governments; public utility personnel; chambers of commerce; financial institutions; business development professionals; co-operative extension personnel; planning and development agencies, real estate professionals and others interested in facilitation job creation and capital investment in their community, region or state.
This BEDC is accredited through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). Accreditation by IEDC ensures that the BEDC covers subject areas determined to be the core building blocks in any economic development organization.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR EDCC MEMBERS
The scholarship program has been identified by the Professional Development Committee as a valuable tool to assist economic developers/or practitioners with education and professional development. The Committee is currently taking scholarship applications for the 2012 Spring Conference.
General Eligibility
The applicant must be a member of EDCC in the current calendar year.
